Running demos on second desktop

category: general [glöplog]

Hi there!

I have two desktops on my system (GeForce 6600GT) where the second one points to my TV set in my living room - my prefered place to watch a demo on the big screen in my comfy sofa with cola'n'chips. B-)

Demos usually run on the first desktop with selectable resolution and refresh rate (or fixed). I wonder if there is somewhere a "container" in which I can run the demo executable and force it to use the second desktop with a fixed resolution and refresh rate, since TV sets usually need 50 or 60 HZ or they blow up in your face ;-) ...

Thanks for any info on that!

P.S.: Right now I use DTV streams to view the demos on the second desktop.

You can always change the main screen and force the refresh rate on the settings.

or get the source code for kkapture, throw out the kkapture stuff and just use it for intercepting the window and 3D device creation process. Good luck ;)

Wouldn't it be good in general to have a tool (for the old demos) that can put the video output on the second desktop and render it for a 16:10 output device (TFT or beamer), so old CRT 4:3 demos look nice on it?

I have several 4:3 demos that are stretched on 16:10 TFTs, so to look original they need to be blown up horizontal to fit to the size of the screen and cropped on the bottom and top, or need to be letterboxed on the left and right.

Couldn't you just clone your main desktop to the tv?

Last time I tried the 3D rendered stuff wasn't cloned...
